About the Artist — A Journey of Handcrafted Creativity
Welcome to my About the Artist page, where I share the colorful, playful journey behind my handcrafted wearable art. Each piece reflects what it means to create — it’s all about the artist’s heart poured into every design. My hope is that you connect with the art on a deeper, more personal level.

My Creative Approach
Where Curiosity, Color, and Craft Come Together
I believe wearable art should feel joyful, expressive, and alive. Every necklace, braid, and beadwork piece begins with curiosity — exploring color, texture, and movement until the materials tell me what they want to become. Nothing here is mass‑produced. Each creation is made by hand, with intention and care.
From Kumihimo, to beading to wire wrapping to charminatas, Peter’s Studio Lair became a playground of color, texture, and “Ooh, what if I try this?” energy. A class with friend Cheryl Feldman unlocked his love for upcycled aluminum can art (he’s never looked at a soda can the same way since).
Then came the day at Benicia Bead when Grace Aberle handed him a Kumihimo disk. Peter insisted he didn’t need another craft. The universe laughed. One braid later, he was hooked — and Kumihimo became his signature rhythm.

Why I Create
The Spark That Starts Every Creation
Creating is how I share stories without words. It’s how I connect with people who love art that feels personal, meaningful, and full of character. When someone chooses a piece from 2handscrafting, they’re choosing a moment of joy — a spark of creativity they can carry with them.
Inside the Studio Lair
Where Inspiration, Materials, and Magic Meet
My Studio Lair is where the magic happens — a space filled with fibers, beads, tools, and inspiration. It’s where ideas take shape, where Kumihimo braids come alive, and where new designs emerge from experimentation and play.

Materials & Techniques
The Tools, Textures, and Traditions Behind Every Piece
I work with a mix of fibers, cords, beads, and handcrafted elements, blending traditional techniques like Kumihimo with modern color palettes and textures. Every piece is built to be comfortable, durable, and uniquely expressive.
Where You Can Find My Work
From Studio Lair Creations to Local Art Adventures
You can explore my jewelry online here at the 2handscrafting Gallery, but you’ll also find me at local art fairs, trunk shows, and community events throughout the Bay Area. These gatherings are the best way to see colors in person, try on pieces, and connect with the stories behind each design. Upcoming events and shows are listed on my Events page — I’d love to see you there.

Thank you for exploring my creative world. Every piece I make is rooted in curiosity, play, and the joy of handmade art. Your support keeps the Studio Lair thriving and inspires me to keep creating work that brings color and meaning into everyday life.
Good things,
Peter Wilson
